No School Due to SNOW!!!!

When did it happen that snow stopped the world?
When I was little we had real winters all the time. Winters just like this for weeks on end. School was never shut down. People still went to work. And frig....that was the 70's! It was all rear-wheel!
Well I still have to go to work.
Charley goes to daycare. Which I pay thru the nose for for a full day like this. FFFFF! but my life doesn't stop cause of a few feet of snow!

Blog on Dudes!

Drive slow and careful if you have to go out!

the world shuts down b/c people dont put fricken snow tires on the car or know how to drive in the snow. we went out this morning and could not believe the people in ditches or stuck on top of snowbanks - like get a freaking clue people - you cannot drive through a drift in a small car - HELLO!

where did you live when we grew up??? weeks on end?? never. But to have a foot for a few days, ya. But, we never had school shut down.

We have two feet here and with the drifts... some places are up to four or five feet deep. crazy.

here they cancel snow when the roads become dangerous. all kids in the district are bussed and if they consider it too dangerous for kids to standing out by the road to wait, or for the busses to travel, they cancel school. we lose a day or two every year.

We had to go down to SeaTac yesterday to pick up Sam from the airport... wholy crap... they closed the I5 not long after we got home. We just got off the freeway as soon as we could. It was so icy and windy and the traffic basically came to a complete standstill. Took us almost 2 hours to do the last half hour of the drive from south of bellingham to home. And we've gotten another six inches since then. I think, though they are finally getting a grip on the roads here. But, ya, jewels is right. snow tires people. And if you are too scared to drive faster than 2 miles an hour, then stay home.

Yeah I am with Shari, I think somebody is pissed because she had to go to work today. The world stopping, no. I am at home with three bored kids....

I agree that school should be shut down when its like this. I know that Dave's school is mostly bus kids, so its just not worth it. Besides there are few teachers that live in the towns that they teach--I know I didn't want my hubby to go to work (or you either J).

And its not really the fact that there is snow...its the ice underneath it that is soooo wicked. And there is that lovely Valley wind that we have going on. Fun stuff:) But yes I agree that people do not know how to drive very well in the snow around here.

But I would be bitter too if I had to work. That used to be me every year--always the one that had to go open the rest, or on the computer. Stream used to send out a Taxi for you if you did not want to drive on snow days.

Anyway-back to baking and all the other stuff I can cram into having my husband around for an extra day!

Pissed that I had to work?
no
not at all.
Sure it would have been nice to be home and play in the snow. Bake cookies ect.
annoyed that most people cannot drive.....yup
My car has all seasons. I did just fine.
Its not nessarily about the tires. It can be about the car.
My Tempo couldn't go anywhere in the snow and I knew it. So I stayed home.
its about knowing your own limitations
However....i watched a whole slew of cars in front of my restaurant slide it out all afternoon. Drivers going too fast for the conditions. some too cautious and going too slow FFFing it up for others.
but i only live a few minutes away from work too.
If I had further to go.....

I'd be having a snow day with the rest of you!!!!!
