Okay.... I am a total repeat visitor of restaurants. My mom and I go to the same place for breakfast every Thursday. Number 1 reason: The service! She remembers us, she remembers my kids (names), she always specializes my picky orders and gets it exactly the way I ordered it. I hate places where they don't let you substitute. They also do little things for holidays..... candy canes out at Christmas, chocolate eggs at Easter, trick or treat stuff at Halloween. To me it's important to have somewhere I can take my kids and they will be content, goodie bags, crayons, booster seats.... drinks that have lids for kids!! Hope that helps, it's really more about the service than anything else. The place we go I can say "I feel like this today but it's not on your menu do you have something similar?" and she will tell me that they can make something for me. I am high maitenance! :) but a very loyal customer!

I like specials. I hate eating in restaurants but if I am in the mood I want to go somewhere I know will be exciting. Like I have never eaten this before and want to be adventerous.

Service is a HUGE reason why I go back to a restaurant. When hey make you feel special. When they notice your kids....or something about you. Or just plain being NICE like they LIKE their job!! I can't tell you how many times I have been to a restaurant and the waiters and such have been total shitheads!!! Tips? Not from me!! I am a good tipper, but nit when I get shitty service. The little things make a big difference. Of course..the food must be good!!! And for me...good coffee is definitely important! I am a coffee snob...LOL

ok..that was more of a ramble than any help i am sure....lol

It ALL helps!!!
Like I said be Specific. Or maybe I didn't say taht. but anyhow...thats what I would like.
And if Our place is doing just fine...jsut needs a little more time to grow. Let me know that too!

So if you walk in and the place is a cafetria but the server knows your name and the food isn't half bad...that's okay???

I'm being nit-picky....lighting? Candles? Flowers? Decor? Front Doors? I want it to be the IT spot in Historic Downtown!
Help me get it there.

food....gotta be decent...Boss Mitch is a Red Seal Excecutive Chef. No problem. I just worry what this town can and will handle. Money and difference wise. Lunch and Dinner......

Keep Going Ladies!!!

this helps so far. Give me More!!

I know it's Abbotsford but..
We like to feel as though we've travelled downtown...but only driven 15 min.
Here are a few of my favorite things....
-Good wine list..yah don't need to buy a lot of the same thing..it doesn't go bad
-Tasting menus are great..way for chef to show off his stuff, may need someone to help with wine pairings..
-MUSIC....I hear easy house, acid jazz, the Cafe Del Mar discs I was telling you about..Jamiroquai..Hell get satellite radio..
. can't go wrong!!!Hundreds of options for 14.99 a month
-As far as atmosphere..more candles..There is this place on Howe and....Drake??Yaletown that has a patio which was an old alley..it's called BRIX..Big brick wall and has a wall of wall sconces lit up it's so cool!
-How about ikea or home depot ledges with cheap tea lights going all over one wall??
-Organic elements..bamboo, wood, rich, chuncky...um..ocean like glass

I'm sure there is more I could think of later but..I'm spent
Hope it helps

AMBIANCE! Huge with me!
Nice music -
Clean -
Well decorated - not a lot of empty spaces -
Good value -
GOOD DRINK SPECIALS!
I want to feel important as soon as I walk in -
And a drink right away - then leave me alone for a minute - servers have to learn to read a table - know when I am rushed and know when I am relaxing.
CLEAN BATHROOMS!

hmmmm - i can think of more - but I have to get ready for work,,,

be Serious!

What else??

Keep it coming guys!!

Well, as most folks have already said, service is number one for me too. Greet me when I walk in the door, seat me as soon as possible. Provide me with something to do with my hands right away, menu drink, bread...

Clean menus (no grease or crusty food on them) and refillable sodas. This seems like a small thing but fountain beverages are very inexpensive for a restaurant to provide and refills go a long way, especially for the guys.

Clean and stink free restrooms with all the equipment working properly and paper products stocked. I am not a germaphobe ar a neat freak but a dirty public restoom is the worst!

Just a few thoughts - hope it helps.

I was being serious!!!
Maybe we should do research and development...
If I could just show you some timeless succes stories....hmm...it would be fun.
But was I not serious???

no no. Not you Bert. Freewrite.

There's still some bloggers I have not heard from.

Please. Your thoughts matter.

What do YOU like in a restaurant?
be anonymous if you would rather....

I like good service too, but if the food is not up to standard I won't go back. It has to taste great and make it so worth my not having to prepare it at home and be worth the price. I hate overpriced for average food.
A nice pleasant quiet atmosphere, some background music (not blary so you can't hear what your other table companions are saying)
A warm room. I hate walking into cold restaurants. I'd rather be at home and warm. Pleasant decor without overdoing it - too fussy and it offends my eyes. Clean - no scungy left-over food left on the table next to you throughout your visit. I like well stocked and clean restrooms too. Complimentary first wine when you arrive is good - especially if you have to wait 5 mins for a table to get free. And different portion sizes available. If someone has a little appetite, why waste a huge plate of food on them. And if someone is extra hungry (usually males) they should be able to request a bigger portion size. Little available for kids too. There are a few thoughts about it anyway. No place is perfect, but for most women I guess going out and not having to cook is a nice treat anyway. That makes us pretty easy to please really.

Was just there for dinner tonight...
OMG!! food is so good
portion huge....
Presentation to die for!!!!

If I can pretend to play critic..If I didn't know how to be adventerous about a menu...
My first menu impression..so so

Doesn't jump out at you..J says Baseball..12 oz TOO DIE FOR...
SELL IT!!!
Coco..curry..chicken rice bowl...holy shit! so good..cut back on that portion bt 1/3
cut food cost..well..I will enjoy lunch tomorow

Servers..didn't look that polished..FROM THE OUTSIDE... they were amazing, and fantastic..but if they look like they are "all there" and polished so will the patrons with the bucco bucks...

like I said maybe we need a night or two to work on research and development

Need cloth napkins
